Writing a Book as a Legacy Piece
In business book writing, there’s a lot of talk about using books to generate leads or boost a brand. But a book can also have a very different purpose: to cement your legacy.
Many of my author partners are in the midst of building their careers and plan to use a book to generate leads, land speaking engagements, or otherwise boost their brands. But on occasion, I work with someone who is winding down their career and just wants to take a moment to pay tribute to all they’ve accomplished.
From founders who sold a company and retired early, to career CEOs about to pass the torch, these individuals have their own reasons for writing a book:
- Creating a legacy piece,
- Passing on their knowledge,
- Simply taking a moment to breathe, look back, and appreciate the journey that got them there.
These are just a few reasons (and of course every person’s reasons for writing a book are unique). My point is only that it’s never too late. Whatever career stage or phase of life you may be in, you likely have a story to tell. And there’s someone out there who wants to hear it.
Thank you for reading! This is a space where I share personal thoughts — an opportunity for self-expression that has nothing to do with my professional writing. NOW that that’s done… I’d love to hear from you about this blog post in the comments! You can also connect via my blog: https://www.ask-communications.com/blog
